The tram 28 is one of the icons of Lisbon. The one that appears in all paintings.
Its route goes through many small and narrow streets in the old town.
We are going to experience this ride from end-to-end; From its stating station, until the last one.
We are going to meet in exit of metro station Rato, walk for 20 minutes to Cemitério dos Prazeres and take the (empty) tram 28 from there.
We will arrive at the final stop – Martim Moniz – around midday.
After the journey we can go for some drinks around the area.
In order to take the tram, you need to have your Lisbon Monthly Transportation Card, or your Zapping card charge with some money. It is also possible to buy a ticket from the driver but that costs the double of the price. It is possible to get/charge the Zapping card at the meeting point.
I will be in the western exist of the Rato [yellow line]. Geting there by metro take the exit that says “Rua das Amoreiras / Rua D. João V”
Tram 28 is a common “working” place for pickpockets.
There is a high change that some of them will join us in the trip. So be extra careful with your wallet after entering the tram. Just to be safe.
